Ray Farmer
Founder

Ray is now, as he likes to put it, “intermittently putting his feet up”… though in reality, he continues to support RAFT on a consultancy basis, sharing the same insight and expertise that built the company from the ground up. The truth is simple — RAFT wouldn’t be where it is today without him. His hard work, grit and determination have shaped the business at every stage, driving it from strength to strength. He is, quite literally, a font of knowledge, and someone we continue to learn from every day. Before RAFT, Ray served in the RAF, a background that’s clearly influenced his discipline, standards and approach to everything he does. When he’s not sharing his wisdom with the team, you’ll likely find him enjoying a good whisky or spending time on his classic motorbikes.

Matthew Farmer
Director of Network Delivery

Matt is the strategic mind behind the seamless delivery of our most complex network projects. From planning to live operation, he keeps every installation on track, safe, and performing at the highest standard. While he may have a million tasks on the go (and a talent for misplacing his keys), multitasking isn't his superpower, focused delivery is. Fuelled by a 9 AM Pepsi Max and a clear plan of action, he keeps projects and teams moving in the right direction.

Ryan Farmer
Director of IT & Field Services

21 years. Countless climbs. Muddy fields, new places, and networks that just work because he’s there. Ryan Farmer is our Director of IT & Field Services and the steady hand behind our on-site operations. From leading our wireless engineering teams to scaling masts (and calling it his gym), Ryan keeps everything running smoothly when it matters most. He’s happiest out in the field, travelling somewhere new, and problem-solving in real time… though if you ask him, he could definitely do without the mud. After a long day? You’ll probably find him unwinding with a BrewDog and planning the next challenge.

Samantha Farmer
Director of HR & Finance

Sam has been with RAFT Systems for 35 years now and is quite literally a font of all knowledge. While she officially leads HR & Finance, her expertise doesn’t stop there – she’s the one keeping the cogs turning across all areas, with lots of fingers in lots of pies (as she likes to say!). When she’s not keeping RAFT ticking, you’ll find her enjoying her snack of choice: custard creams with a big mug of tea. And even working from home, she never works alone – her office companion Daisy the cat is always nearby, usually rolling around in paperwork!

Alex Prankard
Senior Communications Rigger

From Apprentice to Senior Communications Rigger. Alex Prankard started with RAFT Systems as an apprentice and has worked his way up to Senior Communications Rigger over the past 5+ years. Alex has been a key part of the team, bringing hard work, dedication, and a great attitude to every project he’s involved in. It’s always rewarding to see someone grow through the business and develop their skills along the way. When he’s not working on telecoms infrastructure, you’ll probably find him following his beloved Pompey.

Stevie Prankard
Wireless Communication Engineer

Stevie joined RAFT in 2023 as a trainee and has quickly progressed into a fully qualified Wireless Communications Engineer. His development has been impressive, reflecting both his technical ability and his commitment to learning. Stevie brings a thoughtful and analytical approach to his work, making him a valued member of the engineering team. Outside of work, his interests are just as varied — from astrophotography to recharging with a well-earned nap, and a definite appreciation for good chicken wings. Stevie’s combination of technical skill, curiosity, and personality makes him a great fit for RAFT, and an important part of the team’s continued growth.

Max Jordan
Trainee Wireless Communications Engineer

Max joined RAFT in 2025 and has already made a strong impact with his fresh thinking and unique perspective. Bringing creativity and energy to everything he does, Max balances his work with a passion for fast cars, kebabs, and the occasional Battlefield session on Xbox. We’re excited to see how he continues to grow and contribute to the team in the years ahead.

Chloe Oldfield
Projects & Business Compliance Partner

Chloe joined the team in June 2025 and has quickly become a key part of keeping our projects running smoothly. Working across project coordination and compliance, Chloe plays a vital role in making sure our projects are not only delivered on time, but also meet all the necessary standards and requirements. From managing timelines and reviewing project plans to ensuring everything is in line with compliance processes, she helps keep everything organised and on track behind the scenes. When she’s not keeping the cogs of our projects turning, Chloe can usually be found in the gym chasing a new PB, or more recently out training for the Great South Run... always fuelled by her beloved Starbucks, of course.
