Resilient Vessel Traffic Management Network Case Study
Resilient Vessel Traffic Management & Communications Infrastructure.

Reliable communications are essential for vessel traffic management, supporting the continuous monitoring of vessel movements and the safe operation of busy maritime environments.

RAFT Systems has extensive experience delivering resilient wireless communications infrastructure for critical maritime applications. This case study focuses on a communications network supporting 24/7 vessel traffic monitoring across a complex UK maritime environment, including port approaches and coastal waterways.

The project presented a range of challenges associated with long overwater communication paths, coastal conditions and high data demands, while requiring reliable connectivity between remote sites and central operational facilities.

RAFT provided an end-to-end engineering solution, covering elements of network design, equipment supply, installation, system integration and ongoing support.

The full case study explores the requirements of the project, the engineering approach taken by RAFT and how the resulting infrastructure supports resilient vessel traffic management operations.
