Experience in Education Networks


RAFT has successfully designed and deployed Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs) for Higher Education Institutions across the UK, including:


  • NorMAN – linking 5 HEIs in the North East of England.

  • EMMAN – connecting 3 HEIs in the East Midlands.

  • KentMAN – providing resilient connectivity for 8 HEIs in Kent via a redundant ring network.


Each of these projects was delivered end-to-end, from site acquisition and Line of Sight (LoS) surveys through to dealing with planning authorities and implementing sympathetic installations on listed buildings.
