Replacement Microwave Radio Links for MoD Aberporth Range.

QinetiQ awarded RAFT Systems with a contract to supply microwave links and associated equipment for MoD Aberporth under their microwave links sustainability project.

The project was completed earlier this year on time using Ceragon Evolution microwave radio links enabling voice, data and video connections to remote sites.

RAFT Systems were responsible for the system design, supply, installation and commissioning of all the network elements. We are now providing ongoing maintenance support.

Replacement Microwave Radio Link for MoD Hebrides Range.

QinetiQ awarded RAFT Systems with a contract to replace the existing microwave link and associated equipment between the remote radar site on St. Kilda and Range Control on South Uist in the Outer Hebrides.

The project was challenging, not just from an installation environment perspective, but in that it also required that existing communications be maintained with the ability to switch between the new and old systems.

The radio path was in excess of 90km and predominately over water which provided a further challenge. In addition existing legacy interfaces had to be catered for.

Ceragon XPand IP Long Haul radios with space and frequency diversity were used for the replacement microwave. LOOP Access Multiplexers provided the legacy voice and data interfaces and Cisco switches new data provision.

The project was completed on time with RAFT Systems responsible for the system design, supply, installation and commissioning of all the network elements. We are now providing ongoing maintenance support.
